AWS Supports Heriot-Watt Student

AWS Ocean Energy Ltd, one of the UK’s leading marine energy technology companies today announced the award of a £2000 MSc dissertation studentship to Olivier Greslou, a French student currently working on a dual masters degree with Heriot-Watt University and the Arts et Métiers Paris Tech graduate school.

Olivier will be based at the (ICIT) International Centre of Island Technology, the Orkney Campus of Heriot-Watt University and he will carry out a wave energy project with an Orkney perspective later this year. Ben Yeats Head of Marine Projects at AWS Ocean Energy and himself a Heriot-Watt graduate comments;

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with International Centre for Island Technology, by sponsoring another MSc student. Olivier will be researching the anchoring requirements of wave energy devices moored in Orcadian waters, which is a key priority for the industry.”

Dr Sandy Kerr Lecturer at ICIT noted that “this is the second year that AWS have provided sponsorship for a Heriot-Watt student, last year’s student is now working in the marine renewables sector. I’m sure that Olivier will benefit greatly from this opportunity to work with a leading developer at the forefront of wave energy R&D”
