AWS Waveswing trials exceed expectations
AWS Ocean Energy confirmed highly encouraging results from the current phase of sea trials of its wave energy device at the European Marine Energy Centre
Submerged Wave Power Bouy
Submerged Wave Power Bouy
Our patented Archimedes Waveswing is a unique system designed to provide reliable and affordable power for a range of offshore applications. The submerged wave power buoy reacts to changes in sub-sea water pressure caused by passing waves and converts the resulting motion to electricity via a direct-drive generator. The system is suitable for deployment in water depths in excess of 25m as a single buoy or for integration into a multi-absorber structure. A singular unit can be configured for ratings between 15kW and 500kW whilst a multi-absorber unit can offer up to 10MW from a single platform.
Key Benefits
The major advantages of the Waveswing technology derive from its elegant and unique operating principle, its sub-sea location and the use of direct-drive technology. These combine to produce a system that is inherently survivable and reliable whilst providing best-in-class efficiency and cost and a minimal environmental foot-print.
Self-installing, single-point mooring
The single-point tension-tether minimises mooring spread, whilst the on-board winch and quick-connect anchor attachment allows self-installation.
Power performance for economics
The unique operating principle and smart software produces sector-leading power capture per ton of structure, thus minimising costs.
Subsea Location for Survival
Being positioned under the waves gives the Waveswing the unique advantage of avoiding damaging storm forces.
